WordMania

From Topologika
- outstanding piece of software which
actually makes revision and practice of basic language skills fun. Read
the review here.
TextThing
From Topologika
- Possibly the ultimate DART (Directed Activities Related to Text.) You
can use the many texts which come with the program or you may use your own
texts related to on-going work. Read review here.
Toe-by-Toe
From the
Cowling stable - Toe By Toe is a carefully structured, diagnostic system
for the teaching of reading on a one-to-one basis. Developed over 25
years by Keda Cowling, a retired primary school teacher from Baildon,
West Yorkshire. Recommended by many teachers in the U.K. and around the
world. Recommended.
Gamz
Swap/Fix card games
For reading
and spelling practice. My students come in at lunchtime, get the cards
out with their butties and practice their reading and spelling - without
being asked. Highly recommended.
Discloze
from Mike Matson and MAPE
Magnificent
and free. Read the review
here.
Electronic
Library
From Eddie
Carr. Structured reading programme. Read
the review here.
Gamz
Player
The computer
version of the Swap/Fix card games. Read
the review here.
Successmaker
ILS

This is very
expensive - 10 to 20 times the cost of any of the resources already
listed. However, it does cover more areas of the curriculum than any of
the above listed resources. Read
the review here for a fuller evaluation.
