Program evaluation

I made this program available for students who attend our homework club. It is pitched at a level which demands that students think the puzzles through but which doesn't discourage them. At the end of term, when the program was available for extended periods, I watched a student who normally has difficulty concentrating on a task for more than a few minutes at a time. Using this program he worked his way through it to the end without any loss of concentration - and we're talking hours of concentration here not a few minutes!

If you're in the UK and need to link the program to National Curriculum targets a section of the User's Guide will help you - although like much good software it encourages the kind of independent learning and thinking which surpasses the unimaginative and restrictive NC.

The comprehensive User's Guide which accompanies The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis states that the "primary focus" of the program is "helping children develop mathematical skills". 

It does this through twelve puzzles each with four levels. Zoombini maths is "the maths of the information age" which "our children will use in writing computer programs, solving complex problems" and "searching for information on computer networks".
