Language, learning, teaching and I.T .Click to come home with me

These are all "ideas-rich" books.  All worth a look if you want to find out more about how children talk and work together around a computer. This list is dating now but I've left it here for historical reference! It does help to show developments in language, learning, special needs and ICT. (Information and Communication Technology) Have a look at the Literacy, learning and ICT section of this site for more up-to-date references.

The Barnes and Todd book contains nothing at all about I.C.T. but is a classic study of the language of children working and learning together. It is worth reading, but is out of print so may be difficult to find. Also very worth reading are the three books by Seymour Papert. He has much to say about children learning with computers generally.

The "Language, learning and I.T." series (the four titles are listed in the bibliography) from BECTa (formerly the National Council for Educational Technology - NCET) are very good introductory and school-based reading.
