(This site seems to have vanished . . . last check 17/08/04)

This is a five year, SRB funded, raising achievement project developed by Sandwell LEA and the Education Development Unit at S.Martin's College, Lancaster. The documentation material from the project is online. There is background information, project approaches to the Quality Start project, and a series of teaching packs which can be downloaded and printed

The Writing Frames section is especially useful. Have a look.

The role of social services in maintaining children in school

From the Joseph Rowntree Trust, this study looked at how children can be maintained in school through early intervention and how other agencies can support such an approach. This study, by Jeni Vernon and Ruth Sinclair at the National Children's Bureau, looked specifically at the contribution of social services departments (SSDs) to supporting vulnerable children in school.
